Professional Stuntman Sets Himself on Fire to Propose to Girlfriend
This may be his greatest stunt yet.
It wasn't too long ago that a man in England accidentally burned down his apartment trying to propose to his girlfriend.
Well, professional stuntman Riky Ash decided to do one better.
During a decoy photo shoot organized to surprise his girlfriend Katrina Dobson, Ash set himself on fire, New York Post reports.
The stunt, which was captured on video, was a no-brainer for Ash, 52.
"I couldn’t see anything more impressive than proposing on fire," he told SWNS.
The proposal to Dobson, 48, required significant preparation, even for a pro like Ash.
“I sat down with a pen and paper,” said Ash, “then I contact relevant people, and put the idea to them.”
After assembling a team that included a cameraman, a producer and a safety crew, as well as getting proper equipment like protectant undergarments and a protective gel for his face, hair, hands and the back of his neck, the UK-based stuntman was finally ready for the big day.
With crew standing by holding fire extinguishers and a wet towel, Ash was lit ablaze and popped the big question: "Will you marry me Katrina Dobson?"
Ash, who has worked as a stuntman and body double for 27 years, says he was able to stay relaxed while on fire thanks to his "kung fu training," and that the nerve-wracking part was making sure the surprise went off without a hitch.
“This one, I’m more nervous about the actual proposal than being set on fire,” he said.
