Witness the Most Metal Wedding Party in History, Featuring Disturbed and System Of A Down

'Somewhere between the sacred silence and sleep'

June 30, 2020

We haven't seen this many pointer-fingers raised in the air since - wait, what month is this? A recent wedding party in Nigeria got down with the sickness, with attendees sharing the enthusiasm with which they sang along and danced to the extraordinary heavy metal playlist.

System Of A Down singer Serj Tankian got wind of the epic video and even commented on the clip of the partygoers belting out the band's popular single "Toxicity" saying, "simply awesome."

Also on the amped up playlist - Disturbed's "Down with the Sickness" - complete with a headbanging circle that would rival any mosh pit down at floor level.

Sure, you may have heard Ozzy ("Mama I'm Coming Home") or Metallica ballads ("Nothing Else Matters") at a wedding or two over the years - and there's no reason AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" should be left off the DJ's "OK To Play" list -- but epic metal sing-alongs like the ones above usually clear out the uncles, aunts, and grandparents from the room.

William Njobvu, the man who uploaded the video, commented "Rock music at Nigerian weddings needs to be normalised. Love this," and added a similar video from a separate celebration saying, "I STAND with the Nigerian rock community. If you’re wedding isn’t going to be like this.. don’t invite me. Simple."

Upon hearing of the video's viral status, Njobvu responded again saying he was happy that the post has sparked a discussion about Black people and the music that society "expects us to listen to."

"We are multifaceted. I’ve been listening to rock since school & was always told 'you’re not black' because of it. I love pop music, hip-hop & afrobeats just as much."

Now, there's only one way to end this...

"When I became the sun, I shone life into the man's hearts."
"When I became the sun, I shone life into the man's HEARTS."
